This is the foundation of any flat roof. It is laid across the ceiling joists and forms the base layer on which to set the finished roof. As the name suggests, this process involves applying a single thin sheet of material to the top of your structural decking. Built up roofs

Built up roofs have been in use for more than a century. They are laid using roofing felt, impregnated with asphalt and applied with hot bitumen. Modified bitumen roofs

Modified bitumen roofs are a contemporary alternative to built up roofs. Instead of mixing aggregates with the bitumen, this process uses cap sheets (reinforced roof wear layers). There are several ways to apply these roofs, depending on the specifications. These include hot-applied, torch-applied, cold-applied, and self-adhered.
