How to Find a Reliable Roofer in Hertfordshire: 10 Things to Check
Choosing someone to work on your roof requires trust. Your roof protects the property beneath it, so price should not be the only consideration.
1. Are they genuinely local?
A local presence makes it easier to verify previous work and understand whether the company has an established reputation in your area.
2. Are they properly insured?
Ask whether the contractor carries appropriate insurance for the work being undertaken.
3. Do they have genuine reviews?
Look beyond the overall star rating. Read what customers say about reliability, communication, workmanship and how the company responded when a project became complicated.
4. Can you see previous work?
A professional roofing company should be able to show completed projects, ideally including work similar to your own property.
5. Do they provide a detailed quotation?
For significant work, you should understand the scope rather than relying on a vague headline figure.
6. Are guarantees explained clearly?
Ask what guarantee or warranty applies, who provides it and what it covers.
7. Do they explain your options?
Good advice is not about automatically recommending the most expensive solution. The roofer should explain whether repair or replacement is appropriate and why.
8. Who will actually perform the work?
Find out whether the company uses an experienced team and who will be responsible for the project on site.
9. How do they communicate?
A quick quotation means little if the company becomes impossible to contact afterwards. Clear communication before, during and after the job matters.
10. Do you feel pressured?
Major roofing work is an important decision. You should have an opportunity to understand the recommendation and make an informed choice. AM Roofing is a family-run company with bases in Hertford and Enfield, serving Hertfordshire and North London.
